The Kshetra Mahabaleshwar to Jor Village Trek :
This is one of the most scenic treks in Mahabaleshwar. It takes about 2 hours for the average person to trek down to Jor Village, where locals can arrange accommodation in their homes and also provide homemade meals for trekkers.
Ganesh Point Trek :
This trek is quite popular among the tourists who visit Kshetra Mahabaleshwar as it is easier and much shorter than the Kshetra Mahabaleshwar to Jor Village Trek and offers wonderful valley views. Trek duration is 30-40minutes.
Forest Camping and Dining by the Valley’s Edge :
Head down to Advait Valley Camp, Kshetra Mahabaleshwar for a valley side forest camping retreat which is also one of the best sunrise and full moon points in Mahabaleshwar.
There are various sightseeing points nearby within 3-8kms of the village, namely, Kate’s Point(Elephant head point) , Connaught Peak, Elphinstone Point, Hunter’s Point, Arthur’s Seat, Echo Point, Tiger Spring Point, Etc. Kamal Gad, a historic fort can be seen at a distance from Kshetra Mahabaleshwar’s Krishna valley edge.

The dense vast protected evergreen forest of Kshetra Mahabaleshwar is home to a variety of flora and fauna of which some are endangered and some are endemic to India.

This includes rare orchid species, endangered birds like the Nilgiri Wood Pigeon, rare endemic snakes like the Mahabaleshwar Shield-tail and elusive mammals like the endangered Indian Wild Dog(Dhole), Leopard, Leopard Cat, Strip-necked Mongoose, Sloth Bear, etc. A good population of Maharashtra’s State Animal – Malabar Giant Squirrel(Shekru) is found in Kshetra Mahabaleshwar’s forest, some of its nests are seen in Ramsukh Resorts and Spa. Locals have reported sporadic sightings of Tigers over the years but no photographic record has been published yet. The forest of Kshetra Mahabaleshwar is home to a healthy population of the largest bovine in the world, the Indian Gaur. The average weight of male Gaurs is 1300kgs and the individuals found here are usually quite timid in nature.
